Wednesday, May 2nd, 2012

What is Adobe Creative Cloud, I’ve heard many people ask recently on my Adobe training courses – Sai Training – Adobe Certified Courses.

I thought I would take the opportunity to explain to you what Adobe Creative Cloud is and how it works.

Adobe Creative Cloud

Here’s how it works:

- you pay monthly fee (on a month by month basis or on a yearly contract), and you get access to downloads of all Adobe products, i.e. all like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Premiere, etc. As long as you pay your subscription, you get access to all Adobe products and their latest versions.

Tuesday, April 24th, 2012

It is official, Adobe Creative Suite 6 is here!

Adobe Creative Suite 6

Adobe has officially announced Creative Suite 6. At the same time Adobe announced Creative Cloud subscription service.

Creative Cloud is $75(£70.32) a month (or $50(£46.88) a month on a yearly subscription). With a subscription you get access to all Adobe applications including Lightroom 4 and you get access to all Adobe Touch Apps introduced last year. With the subscription you also get 20GB of cloud-based storage to access your files from any devices with internet access. If you are an existing user of Creative Suite 3, 4, or 5, you are getting an introductory discount and you can get a subscription for $30 a month.

If you’re not into subscription system, you can still buy the “boxed” products as usual. This time there are only 4 Creative Suite editions:

  • Design Standard – £1200 ($1300)

Get started with Adobe Edge – Part 1

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

Adobe EdgeYou may have heard about Adobe Edge – a new web motion and interaction design tool that allows designers to bring animated content to websites, using web standards like HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS3.

Edge is an intuitive tool for creating animated, interactive content that runs beautifully on mobile devices and modern browsers. It features an easy to use interface, with a properties-based timeline for impeccable accuracy and control. Create new compositions, import and animate web graphics, or add motion to existing HTML files without compromising integrity. Also, Edge works natively with HTML to ensure compatibility with existing workflows.

I thought I would record a seres of videos on Edge and today I want to share with you the first video in the series to get you started.

I do remember about my videos on new features in Photoshop CS6 and later today I will be recording the next video in the series and will upload it as well.

Adobe Creative Cloud details revealed

Wednesday, February 29th, 2012

Adobe has revealed some details about Creative Cloud. This will be launched later this year, probably at the same time as Creative Suite 6 and maybe Lightroom 4 as well. No dates have been confirmed yet.

The monthly fee is going to be £38 and it is going to include a number of publishing tools working along Creative Suite 6 and Touch Apps.

Here’s what you get for £38 a month according to web sources:

- access to Creative Suite 6 Master Collection

- access to Lightroom 4

- you get access to two licenses (both for Windows and Mac, so you can run one on Windows and one on Mac)

- access to the upgrades, when Adobe releases upgrades to the applications, you get them

- access to all Touch Apps for Android and iPad

- 20GB of personal space

Along with subscription, Adobe will still keep selling boxed products as usual.

More details soon.

Adobe update policy for CS6 clarified

Monday, January 16th, 2012

Today I am happy to share with you some updates on Adobe Upgrade Policy for coming Creative Suite 6.

I have written a post about the Upgrade Policy a while ago – you can find it here:

New Adobe upgrades policy.

However, I have just found out a lot of new information. Here’s what I have found out.

Here’s something exciting that Adobe says:

We’re very excited about the upcoming release of Adobe® Creative Suite® 6 software and Adobe Creative Cloud™. CS6 will be a major new release of our creative desktop tools, with huge improvements for every type of creative professional.

Adobe Creative Cloud will be our most comprehensive creative solution ever, giving members access to all of the CS6 desktop software plus additional services, new tools, Adobe Touch Apps, and rich community features.

In addition, Creative Cloud members will receive continuous upgrades and updates to all products and services as part of their membership.

New Adobe upgrades policy

Adobe Creative Suite 5

Adobe Creative Suite 5

As you may have noticed, we had an upgrade from Adobe earlier this year, named CS5.5. Even though it wasn’t a major upgrade, not every Adobe application got an upgrade, i.e. Photoshop (among some other applications) doesn’t have anything new and it is not a Photoshop CS5.5.

There are some major changes just around the corner, that will change the way new versions (starting from what I understand will be CS6) will get upgrades. From what I understand, when Adobe release Photoshop CS6, you will need to have CS5 or CS5.5 to get an upgrade (you will only be able to upgrade up to two versions, so CS5->CS5.5->CS6. Correct me if I’m wrong.

From what I understand, if you do not have CS5 or CS5.5 when CS6 is released, you will NOT be able to get an upgrade… You will have to buy the full version instead, what for Photoshop would be somewhere around £700 in the UK ($700 in the US)…

What is suggested (not by me) is that people upgrade their CS4 to CS5.5 now, so next year they could get an upgrade to CS6. But then, will it come cheaper to pay for an upgrade now and then next year again? You judge it by yourself.

Another option you will have will be to pay subscription for Adobe software (monthly or yearly), which makes some sense to some people, people who don’t use Photoshop on regular basis as an example.

Announcing Adobe Creative Suite 5.5!

Monday, April 11th, 2011

CS 5.5Good morning to you! Great news for you today! And finally I can share it with you, I cannot wait to do it so let’s get straight to the point.

Adobe announces Adobe® Creative Suite® 5.5! And it even comes with optional subscription based pricing! Adobe has just announced an update to its Creative Suite – CS 5.5. The update mostly focuses on updates for the smartphone platform.

Adobe plans to change their “major releases cycle” to 24 months instead of 18.

Adobe says:

“the CS update is focused on enabling designers and developers to target popular and emerging smartphone and tablet platforms,” and provides “substantive advances to HTML5, Flash authoring, digital publishing and video tools as well as new capabilities that kick-start the integration of tablets into creative workflows.”

Adobe has also introduced subscription-based pricing for the Creative Suite, with monthly pricing schemes.
The monthly pricing scheme includes products like Photoshop for US$35 per month, Adobe Design Premium CS 5.5 for $95 per month, and Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection for $129 per month.
Of course, you can also pay for the suite all in one go, but it’ll cost you anywhere from $1299 up to $2599 for the Master Collection.
