The Secrets to CS5 #9 – Digital Cameras raw file support in Photoshop CS5, Bridge CS5 and Lightroom 2

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Photoshop Cs5 Training from Sai TrainingHello. Today I want to share with you something I found.

Quite often people ask me about the support for their cameras when they use raw. The thing with raw is that every time a new camera comes out, software vendors like Adobe working hard on providing support for these cameras.

You need to be aware that if you use quite a new camera, it will only be supported by new version of Camera Raw and you may need to wait before the update is released.

On Adobe website I found an interesting page with all cameras supported by Camera Raw 6 listed. Great resource.

You will find the link below:

The Secrets to CS5 #8 – Camera Raw 6 in Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5 continued

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010

Hello again. A couple more new features in Camera Raw 6 today. We talked a bit about Camera Raw 6 yesterday and I wanted to add a bit more to it.

There are some more improvements to Post-Crop Vignetting:

- in the Style menu there is a new Highlight Priority Mode with additional settings for Midpoint, Roundness, Feather and Highlights to add a touch to the vignette:

Also, because Camera Raw can be used with JPEGs and TIFFs as well as raw images, you can use these enhancements with images from consumer digital cameras and even mobile phones like iPhone.

Very nice subtle changes, new adjustments giving you more power while working with images in Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5.

That’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed it and till tomorrow.

Have an outstanding day.

Camera Raw 6 now offers new demosaicing for better raw conversion and an increasing support for cameras (currently over 275 camera models).

Some of the new improvements are:

The Secrets to CS5 #6 – Puppet Warp in Photoshop CS5

Monday, May 10th, 2010

This time we have another top secret in Photoshop CS5 – Puppet Warp. Another exciting new feature so let’s get to it straight away.

Puppet Warp can be used to precisely reposition and warp any image element. It is as simple as dropping a pin into a chosen anchor point and then swinging a raised arm to a person’s side in a photo, warp or stretch to create interesting effects.

Here is an example of a Puppet Warp on the image with the Mesh Shown after applying Edit-> Puppet Warp

Puppet Warp in CS5 And here the amazing part will start! I added 3 pins on the elephant’s body

and I started moving(!) the elephant by clicking on the pins and draging them!

Amazing new feature in Photoshop CS5! I hope you enjoy that and I will create a video presentation on Puppet Warp very soon so keep tuned.

The Secrets to CS5 #5 – Mixer Brush and Bristle Tips in Photoshop CS5

Friday, May 7th, 2010

Good morning. Today slightly different issue – Mixer Brush and Bristle Tips in Photoshop CS5.

The new Mixer Brush lets you define multiple colours on a single tip to paint with colour blends, you can also blend photo’s colours to create an interesting looking painting effect.

New Bristle Tips allow you to easily paint with textured brush strokes using defined bristle properties like  shape or length and you can experiment with it by adding Bristle Tips to your brush tools.

Now let’s have a look on some examples. The first screenshot shows the Options Bar for Mixer Brush with an exciting feature where you can pick up different colours and use them in a brush.

The next screenshot shows new Bristle Tips  inside Brush Panel and a new preview in the top left corner of the document window.

And there is also the Bristle Brush Preview checkbox a the bottom of the Brush Panel that loads 3D preview of the Brush tip at the left of document window showing also the pressure applied (with OpenGL enabled).

That’s it for today. Next Secret will follow… Till next time.
