Potential JPEG Bug in Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Lightroom updatesHello everyone. Here’s an information we received from Adobe.

There is a potential severe bug introduced in Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4 update. This doesn’t include everyone, so no reasons to panic.

This only affects people, who save their metadata to JPEG files. Up to date, this bug has only been found to involve one camera – Hp Photosmart R607.

The scenario is very rare, and the Adobe team don’t believe that all the users need to revert to the previous update. They’re working on fixing the issue, and they intend to make new updates (named Lightroom 3.4.1 and Camera Raw 6.4.1) by Friday, 27th of May.

Thank you, Adobe, for revealing this information to us, users of their software. We’ll await the new updates that fix this bug.

That’s it for today. Till tomorrow!

Photoshop Lightroom TV - Episode 41Have you watched this week’s episode of Photoshop Lightroom TV?

I could call it a “Lightroom episode” as we focus on Lightroom this week with two great tutorials in Lightroom.

I start with some great updates (as usual) and I jump straight into a tutorial. I begin with a great tutorial on Quick Collections and Collections in Lightroom. You may have used them before but have you ever wondered what the difference is between Collections, Quick Collections and Smart Collections? If  for you don’t know the differences, you have got to see it!

Here’s a link for you:

Photoshop Lightroom TV – Episode 41.

After the tutorial, I follow with some more great tips, tricks and news before jumping into another tutorial, this time on using Print Module to create passport size prints. I show you how you can take a photo you took (you can easily take a passport photo at home, against an off-white wall) and set it up as a 4x6in print with passport size images and print it for a fraction of a price of a passport photographs. How great is it?!

I hope you will enjoy this week’s episode and I hope to see you next week.

Have a lovely weekend! :-)

Lightroom’s Adjustment Brush Essentials

Friday, April 1st, 2011

Lightroom BrushHere’s an interesting article for you. Lightroom’s Adjustment Brush Essentials with Rob Sylvan.

Learn how to master the Adjustment Brush Tool in Lightroom with Rob Sylvan from Lightroomers. In this article, Rob details some interesting insights into using the Adjustment Brush and shares his tips and techniques.

Adjustment Brush Tool is used to make local adjustments to your images. While making adjustments, you can use a mix of different settings like colour, saturation, contrast, exposure and more.

I remember when Adjustment Brush was introduced in Lightroom 2. It was probably the most amazing new feature in Lightroom 2, I just loved it and I have been using it since then. And the Adjustment Brush is non-destructive – the adjustments it creates can be edited or removed at any time. And remember, Lightroom remembers everything you do while working on our images so you can track it down at any time! No limits to History (unlike in Photoshop).

Here’s the link to the Rob’s article:

I hope you’ll enjoy it. Have a fabulous weekend! :-)

Shoot Tethered in Lightroom

Thursday, March 24th, 2011

Shooting tethered in LightroomLightroom 3 brought a great and easy way to shoot tethered straight into Lightroom from your camera. How great is that?! And it is so easy and it requires no setup, no applications need to be installed. You can shoot “straight out of the box”!

Previous version of Lightroom allowed you to shoot tethered but with Lightroom 3 it became so simple. You just plug in your camera into your computer (you can use a usb cable that came with your camera or buy a long one or just use a wireless transmitter, there are a number of options) and then let Lightroom import images while you’re taking photographs! As simple as that!

I posted some more information about shooting tethered with Lightroom about a week ago so I am not going to bore you with all the details. Instead I invite you to watch the video I have created to show you how easy it is to shoot tethered with Lightroom 3.

Watch the video and enjoy it! :-)

Video Slideshows in Lightroom

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011

Lightroom 3Another day, another Lightroom post. Good morning! :-)

I am thrilled to be writing for you today and show you the new Video Slideshow export in Lightroom 3! This is a new feature in Lightroom 3 and allows you to export the slideshow as a video. There are a number of options, among many export to HD video! How great is that! And I mean Full HD! 1080p!

So now, you can export your slideshows as videos and give them to a client and let them watch it as a video on their computer. There is a number of options that can be used to customize the slideshow when you export it but instead of boring you with all the details, I will share with you a video that I have created.

Sit down, relax and enjoy! :-)

LRB Portfolio by Sean McCormack

Lightroom pluginsExpand Lightroom today with plugins!

Here’s a website by Sean McCormack and I’ve noticed an interesting plugin (a gallery plugin to be exact), that extends what the gallery in Lightroom can do.

This plugin allows the photographer to create up to 7 galleries, 2 custom pages, an about page and a contact page, a perfect layout for an effective online portfolio website. Simply order photos by the gallery, noting the number for each gallery, enter relevant text and layout to your preference. In less than a few hours, you can have a whole website online.

Plugin works with Lightroom 2 and 3. Here are a few new features in the updated version of the plugin:

  • Optional images instead of text links in Menu
  • Full control of body background image
  • Optional Google Analytics code section
  • On text editing
  • Gallery Index Page
  • And here’s a link for you:

    LRB Portfolio – Lightroom Plugins.

The plugin is only 15 Euros.

    Enjoy! :-)
