Lightroom/Photoshop doesn’t support my camera…

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

Lightroom updatesHello everyone,

That’s a quite common question I get:

I got a new camera and even though I have the latest version of Lightroom (or Photoshop), it doesn’t support my camera. It doesn’t allow me to work on my raw images… What shall I do?

Let’s see what you can do in a situation like this:

1. Check if  you have all the latest updates installed. How do you check if you have the latest updates installed? Just choose: Help -> Updates. All Photoshop/Lightroom updates are free, so why not get the latest updates? I don’t see the reason why not.

2. Check if your camera is on the list of supported cameras. If you have just bought a brand new camera that was recently released, it may not be supported yet. I had this issue when I purchased Canon EOS 7 a few weeks after it was released, I waited for about a week or two until Adobe release an update bringing support for this new camera.

Let me give you a link where you can check if your camera is supported:

List of supported cameras for Camera Raw Plugin for Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Lightroom.

If your camera is not on this list because it’s brand new, just be patient and wait for an update. Adobe releases updates every three months or so.

3. If your camera is not on the list of supported cameras, you may want to check Adobe Labs website as there may be a release candidate version of Camera Raw with support for your camera, so you could try it out just before it gets finally released.

I hope you find it useful.

Enjoy! :-)

Photoshop 12.0.4 update doesn’t install

Monday, June 13th, 2011

Photoshop UpdatesWelcome to the first post of this week.

This time, we’ll talk about Photoshop and about a common issue many people had with the recent update – 12.0.4.

As you know, every update brings some improvements into the application as well as fixes to some bugs, so we usually recommended updating your applications. And all the updates are Free anyway, so why not update? And you don’t need to go to any web pages using your web browser, you can run the installation process straight from within the application itself in Photoshop from under Help menu.

There were some complaints about the latest update, people on the forums started saying that they updated Photoshop to the latest version but it looked like it didn’t install. Here’s what the users say:

” The 12.0.4 update for Adobe Photoshop CS5 doesn’t install. “

It is a known error and happens on Windows XP. The successful update is being indicated, but upon starting Photoshop it still says 12.0.

Adobe suggests reinstalling Photoshop, and running 12.0.4 updater – Help > Updates… in Photoshop.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, or want to find out about anything Photoshop, Lightroom, or Bridge related, contact me by posting a comment here, or send me an email from this page below:

Enjoy! :-)

Potential JPEG Bug in Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Lightroom updatesHello everyone. Here’s an information we received from Adobe.

There is a potential severe bug introduced in Lightroom 3.4 and Camera Raw 6.4 update. This doesn’t include everyone, so no reasons to panic.

This only affects people, who save their metadata to JPEG files. Up to date, this bug has only been found to involve one camera – Hp Photosmart R607.

The scenario is very rare, and the Adobe team don’t believe that all the users need to revert to the previous update. They’re working on fixing the issue, and they intend to make new updates (named Lightroom 3.4.1 and Camera Raw 6.4.1) by Friday, 27th of May.

Thank you, Adobe, for revealing this information to us, users of their software. We’ll await the new updates that fix this bug.

That’s it for today. Till tomorrow!

Update your Ps, Lr, Br

Tuesday, January 11th, 2011

Do you know how to check if you are running the latest version of your Adobe application? Do you know how to check which one is the latest update for your Photoshop or Bridge or Lightroom?

The topic seems to be very simple but I meet many people who don’t think about that or maybe don’t even know how to do it and this is a crucial topic. Make sure your software is kept to date!

For this reason I recorded a video for you that shows how to check all that and make sure you have the latest updates installed – remember they’re all Free!

I hope you will find the video useful and will enjoy it.
